Tip: Change and Create Text and iMessage Shortcuts

Posted by Matthew Snider with 5 Comments

Here is a little tip that can go a long way. All of you texters out there and even you iMessage snobs, this one is for you!

There is a little known fun fact out there – you can edit, delete and change those fun shortcuts while texting/iMessaging (yes its a word now!).

You know those little shortcuts such as omw which automagically turns into On My Way! This is this tip!

So how do you change them? It’s so easy, hit up the jump to read more.

Hit up the settings app on your iDevice and head on over to the General settings tab.

Once there scroll down to the Keyboard settings. Now that you are there flip to the bottom and have fun!

Edit, delete, create ANYTHING you want to send to your Mom, friends or even your favorite blogger!

It’s that easy! And yes, those are some of my Shortcuts.

  1. How did I now know about this?! Thank you for sharing. My fingers will be forever grateful.

  2. Tried this, but couldn’t find a way to create shortcuts. All I see at the bottom of Keyboard is an option to add International Keyboards. Help!

    • Flip all the way down, the large Add New Shortcut… button is below the already given shortcuts.

If you don’t have that it may have been a newer iOS update.

  3. I like to use: KFKITG (Kung Fu Kick In The Groin) when texting with West Coast Ninjas. K.C. knows about this
