Pegatron to Start Shipping iPhone 5 in September?!

An unconfirmed report says that Pegatron will be shipping the new iPhone 5 in September.

Digitimes says,

Pegatron Technology has landed orders for 10 million units of iPhone 5 to become the second ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) of the smartphone. Shipments will start in September, according to industry sources. As iPhone gross margins are relatively small, Pegatron aims to compete for orders for iPad, MacBook Air and other Apple products and has increased production equipment and employment, the sources said.

Pegatron as a company has only been around as long as the original iPhone. It was founded in 2007 and in addition to manufacturing Apple devices, it manufactures motherboards, notebooks, game consoles and LCD Screens for various tech companies. It’s revenues are reportedly up 44% from June of last year, and us Apple fans like to think that’s because of a new lucrative contract with Apple for the new iPhone!

Do you think the iPhone 5 will ship in September?

  1. Not certain, but I sure hope so. I’m ready for an upgrade!

  2. My wife and I staggered our contracts 12 months apart. I’m an early adopter and she’s not, so I always get the new goodies and she gets my well taken care of year old phone.

    Come on iPhone 5!
