No More Nano Watch

ipod nano

Next month’s Apple event is likely to included some highly anticipated announcements. In addition to the iPhone 5 and the intensely debated iPad mini I think we can expect an update to the iPod product line.

As Apple’s first handheld mobile device, the iPod has the most renditions of any of Apple’s brands, but hasn’t been updated since 2010. Specifically, the iPod nano has undergone a number of design changes since it was introduced in 2005.

I’ve owned almost every iPod model, but the current iPod nano is my favorite by far. It’s portable, durable and compatible w/ a nifty watch accessory that I get compliments about on a daily basis. No joke.

That’s why I was so bummed to read rumors that the iPod nano would be redesigned again to return to the rectangle design. While the addition of a home button is cool the mock up looks more like an iPod Touch nano. If you like the form factor if the iPod nano as is now is the time to snatch one up.

It will be interesting to separate fact from fiction and reality from rumor on Sept 12.

  1. I actually think the last few nano’s have been awful. I much preferred the original white nano with click wheel. That bad boy was awesome! I don’t really care for any of these nowadays with an iPhone, so why would anyone buy a standalone digital player is beyond me.

    • I think that’s a legitimate stance, but for me I don’t want to be sweating on my iPhone while I’m pumping iron or cranking it out on the elliptical.

If I drop my iPhone at the gym or hit it w/ weights I’m out more money than if I drop the matchbox size nano.
