Yesterday, Apple, released their attempt at a Podcasts app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The Podcasts app features a “Top Stations” guide for content discovery, playback syncing between different iOS devices, the ability to stream shows, and more.
Not long ago we got great feedback on our Downcast App Review, a very popular podcast tool. While we love Downcast, this app is made well and looks great so far!
Check out the details below on what the app includes. For a free app I believe this could take down Downcast!

Will you use this over Downcast? Do you even listen to Podcasts on your iPhone?
Download it for free from the App Store.

I’m a big fan of Instacast. Personally, the best way to listen to podcasts. However, I downloaded the Apple Podcast app and I like it. I’m going to give it a spin for two weeks and see how I feel. The only problem is that I keep searching for the Geekfori podcast and I’m coming up empty. When will it launch?
I honestly have gone back and forth about starting one. With three girls, free time isn’t really around.
I have all of the research done on the mic I want etc, and have some working episodes ready, BUT I want to be consistent when and if it ever launches.
I understand. It does require dedication, consistency and some cash. If you do launch, make sure to let me know.
Will do. I have some ideas, I am wondering though if a videocast would be better?
I’m tempted by podcasting as well. I think having a video and audio option reaches the largest audience. Depends on the content I guess and what you want to do.
I listen to podcasts in the car but have never seen a need to go past the music App for listening to them. Will definitely be using Apple’s new app though!
Started using the apple podcast app yesterday, and while listening – I was chatting with a friend using vtok (google talk client). As soon as I finished typing and press enter, Apple’s podcast app will shut down. Tried it about 3 times with the same result. Anyone can confirm?
I gave Podcast a test drive and it’s okay, but it’s waaay to slow. Especially when searching for a podcast or trying to subscribe. Definitely better than what it was, but I’m sticking w/ Downcast. Especially since I paid for the latter.
